Irresistible for party animals, perfect for demanding gastronomy fans and a paradise for sea lovers this famous Aegean Island with the spectacular coastline and the rocking energy can provide each traveler with the ever-best holiday attractions, if they cast their wishes to the right… well!
Bars and restaurants are everywhere on the Island, offering the widest -and wildest- variety of tastes, from the classic and famous Greek cuisine to the most extravagant and exotic dishes from around the world. Clubs are mostly within a close range of Chora -the capital of Mykonos- and they stay open all night to satisfy dancers by playing either live music or having celebrity DJ’s on the decks.
As for beaches, there are no words enough to describe the stunning golden sand and turquoise waters that invite all visitors to the island to spend long hours of sunbathing and relaxed swimming or enjoy adrenaline-rising watersports.
So, if you are a newcomer to Mykonos, below you can find a list of the most beautiful beaches that are scattered across the island. Is some of them the loud parties start from late noon and never finish before sunset, while others are more suitable for families, relaxed snorkeling, and sunbathing.
Paradise Beach. The party here lasts at least till dawn, like a tribute to the hippie tribes of the ‘70s that made it famous around the world.
Super Paradise. With its clear blue waters and golden sand this was once a traditional nudist beach that now draws a more mixed crowd. It features plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas plus some beach bars that get loud in the early afternoon.
Psarou Beach is one of THE destinations for the jet-setter crowd, so before getting there you must make sure to reserve your sunbeds and seats at the local restaurants. If it gets much too crowded you can walk to nearby Paradise and Paraga beaches.
Paraga. It is relatively small and the most southerly beach in Mykonos. Since it is not affected much by the strong northeast winds, the waters here are always ideal for swimming.
Ornos Beach. While it is one of the trendiest spots it is also a family friendly beach with restaurants and bars and a full range of watersports from windsurfing to scuba diving.
Platys Gialos Beach. Perfect choice for dedicated swimmers and water sports lovers. The beach is pretty large, with restaurants and bars within reach too.
Elia Beach. This beach is the largest on the island, full of amenities that include restaurants, bars, watersports center and hundreds of sunbeds and umbrellas.
Agios Ioannis Beach. One of the great spots for sunsets watchers that had also served as a setting for the Shirley Valentine movie.
